Email scams are getting smarterâand theyâre targeting everyone. These fake messages often pretend to be from companies like Wix, GoDaddy, PayPal, or even your bank. They look official, but theyâre designed to trick you.
I hear it all the time from clients: âIs this email real?â Most of the time⌠itâs not.
What Scam Emails Usually Say
âYour account will be shut downâ
âClick here to renew your serviceâ
âUpdate your payment information nowâ
They may use real company logos and professional layouts, but that doesnât make them legitimate.
Rule #1: Donât Click Any Links đ
If something feels off:
Go directly to the companyâs official website
Log in to your account from there
Check for real alerts or notifications
How to Spot a Scam Email đŹ
Senderâs email address is strange, misspelled, or doesnât match the company
Message feels urgent, rushed, or threatening
Awkward grammar or phrasing that just feels âoffâ
Requests for personal info like passwords or credit card numbers
How to Protect Yourself đ
â Turn on 2-Factor Authentication so even if someone gets your password, they canât log in without your code or phone
â Never share login info over email or text
